Pioneers Extend Winning Streak with Road Victory Over Geneva

The WRA boys varsity tennis team continued its strong stretch of play on May 8, defeating Geneva 4–1 on the road despite threatening weather throughout the afternoon.

At #1 singles, Collin Si '27 displayed patience and confidence in a strong straight-set performance. After battling through a competitive first set, Si took control in the second to secure a 6–4, 6–1 victory.

Govindha Chadalavada '27 dominated at #2 singles, not dropping a single game in a convincing 6–0, 6–0 win. At #3 singles, Mekhi Hoyte '28 continued to gain valuable varsity experience, battling through a first-set tiebreak before pulling away for a 7–6, 6–2 victory.

In doubles play, Victor Wang '26 and Shane Deng '26 competed at #1 doubles and showed resilience after a difficult opening set. The duo adjusted their strategy and made the second set highly competitive before ultimately falling 6–0, 7–5.

At #2 doubles, Jack Shen '27 and David Zhang '28 made their varsity debut and delivered one of the most exciting matches of the day. After narrowly dropping the first set in a tiebreak, the pair responded with a dominant 6–1 second-set win before capturing the deciding tiebreaker 11–9 to complete the comeback victory.

With three consecutive wins, the Pioneers will look to keep their momentum going when they host Orange on Monday, May 11.
