The WRA boys varsity tennis team earned an impressive 4–1 victory over Orange High School on May 11 at home, improving to 7–4 on the season with one of its most complete performances of the year.
Facing a respected program with a strong tennis tradition, the Pioneers delivered strong play across the lineup.
At #1 singles, Griffin Vaughn '26 battled through a competitive match against a talented opponent. After dropping the opening set 6–2, Vaughn responded with a strong comeback effort and built a 5–2 lead in the second set before ultimately falling 6–2, 7–5.
Collin Si '27 continued his standout season at #2 singles with another resilient performance. After losing the first set 6–3, Si adjusted his approach and answered with a 6–3 second-set win before securing the match in a third-set tiebreaker, 10–7.
At #3 singles, Govindha Chadalavada '27 controlled the pace throughout the match, using patience and smart shot selection to earn a dominant 6–1, 6–0 victory.
The doubles teams were equally strong for WRA. At #1 doubles, seniors Roberts Sartor '26 and Sanam Mody '26 turned in one of their best performances of the season, pulling away for a convincing 6–3, 6–1 victory. At #2 doubles, Gordon Dix '26 and Mekhi Hoyte '28 applied steady pressure throughout the match to earn a solid 6–2, 6–3 win.
Overall, it was a strong team victory against a quality opponent, as the Pioneers continue to build momentum heading into the postseason stretch.
