The WRA boys varsity tennis team earned another impressive victory on May 12, defeating Kiski School 3–2 on the road to improve to 8–4 on the season.
The Pioneers picked up their first point at #2 doubles, where seniors Gordy Dix '26 and Victor Wang '26 delivered a dominant performance. Playing aggressively from the start, the duo cruised to a 6–1, 6–1 victory.
At #3 singles, Alex Le Rouge '26 battled throughout the match but fell to a strong opponent, 6–1, 6–2. Griffin Vaughn '26 faced a talented five-star freshman recruit at #1 singles and competed with determination while mixing up his game effectively, but ultimately came up short 6–1, 6–3.
Collin Si '27 continued his outstanding season with one of his strongest performances of the year at #2 singles. Using a balanced and consistent baseline game, Si controlled the match from start to finish in a commanding 6–1, 6–1 victory.
With the team score tied at 2–2, the match came down to #1 doubles. Seniors Roberts Sartor '26 and Sanam Mody '26 once again rose to the occasion. After taking the first set 6–1, the pair remained composed under pressure and closed out the second set 6–3 to clinch the match and secure the team victory for WRA.
The Pioneers will look to close out the season on a strong note when they travel to North Royalton on Thursday, May 15.
