The WRA boys varsity tennis team fell 4–1 on the road to a strong University School squad on April 20, but the match provided valuable experience and highlighted the team's competitiveness.
At #1 singles, Griffin Vaughn '26 competed with patience and precision, engaging in long, strategic rallies before ultimately falling 6–3, 6–2. Colin Si '27 delivered one of his most complete performances of the season at #2 singles, pushing his opponent in a pair of tight sets before coming up short, 7–5, 6–4.
WRA's lone point came at #3 singles, where Govi Chadalavada '27 showed resilience. After dropping the first set 2–6, he battled back to win the second 7–5 and carried that momentum into a decisive third-set tiebreaker to secure the victory.
In doubles play, the #1 team of Gordy Dix '26 and Mekhi Hoyte '28 faced a tough, experienced pairing and fell 6–0, 6–0. The #2 doubles duo of Alex Le Rouge '26 and Maanav Patel '28, competing together for the first time, showed promise but ultimately fell 6–0, 6–1.
Despite the result, the Pioneers gained important match experience and will look to bounce back quickly as they return home to face CVCA on Tuesday, April 21.
