In a match filled with grit, drama, and no shortage of competitive fire, the Western Reserve Academy Pioneers came up just short, falling 3–2 to a formidable Cathedral Prep squad in what can only be described as a heart-breaking loss.
Despite the final score, the Pioneers showcased resilience across the board—none more so than senior
Arsh Goyal, whose performance at No. 3 singles nearly flipped the momentum in WRA's favor. Down a set and locked at 5–5 in the second, Goyal dug deep and delivered his finest tennis when it mattered most. He clawed his way through the second set, then capped off the comeback with a thrilling third-set tiebreaker victory to keep the Pioneers in contention.
In the top two singles spots, junior
Roberts Sartor (No. 1) and sophomore
Collin Si (No. 2) were tasked with facing Cathedral Prep's most polished players. Both athletes fought for every point and made their opponents earn every game, but ultimately, the Ramblers proved just a bit too steady down the stretch, taking both matches.
Doubles action brought a much-needed spark. The seasoned duo of Gong and Vaughn at No. 1 doubles continued their stellar run, winning a gutsy match in straight sets. After a strong 6–4 opening set, they found themselves trailing 0–4 in the second. Undeterred, the pair mounted a comeback for the ages, storming back to take the set 7–5 and clinch the match.
At No. 2 doubles, the pairing of Mody and Wang took a set to settle into rhythm. After dropping the first 6–2, they elevated their level in the second, pushing it to a tiebreaker. Despite the momentum shift, they couldn't quite break through, falling 7–6 in a tightly contested finish.
