Pioneers Close Regular Season Against SPIRE, Set Sights on Nationals

The Western Reserve Academy Girls Varsity Basketball team wrapped up its regular season Saturday afternoon, falling 68–40 to SPIRE in their final tune-up before the National Prep Championship.

Entering the contest short-handed, the Pioneers competed with toughness and resilience against a talented SPIRE squad. SPIRE capitalized on turnovers and converted in transition, building momentum that allowed them to control much of the game.

Despite the outcome, Reserve continued to battle throughout. Avery Childress '29 led the Pioneers with a team-high 10 points. Norah Fuld '26, an Elon commit, delivered a strong all-around performance with 9 points, 10 rebounds, and 2 blocks. Juniors Eva Barron '27 and Emerie Davis '27 were active on both ends of the floor, combining for 13 points and 15 rebounds while providing steady defensive presence.

The Pioneers now turn their attention to the National Prep Championship in West Hartford, Connecticut. Reserve will open play against Darrow School (NY) in the quarterfinals, a rematch of last year's thrilling overtime contest at WRA that saw the Pioneers earn a two-point victory.
