Over the weekend Western Reserve Academy was the host for the annual Blankenship Duals where Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy, Elyria Catholic, and Kiski School came to compete.

Our first dual of the day was against Elyria Catholic High School where the Pioneers dropped the match 63-12. Freshman Braydden Crum (132) and senior Marco Cartella (144) came away with victories by pin.

Our next match of the day was against Kiski School where the Pioneers dropped a tight match 42 to 36. Braydden Crum (132), Hwan Jung (138), Binbin Tang (144) and Marco Cartella (150) all won by pin! Daniel Ryu (126) and Diego Bermudez (157) both won by forfeit.

The final match of the day came against a very tough CVCA team. The Pioneers battled hard but lost the match. Hwan Jung (138) and Marco Cartella (144) both wrestled very tough opponents but came away with the win!

We also honored senior Marco Cartella prior to the duals beginning. Marco is a four year varsity letter winner and team captain of the wrestling team. Marco is a three time National Prep Championship qualifier and hopes to make the tournament again this season with a finish on the podium!

The squad is back in action February 14 & 15 at Germantown Academy for the National Prep Qualifier!
