Wrestlers Battle at National Prep Championships, Senior Marco Cartella Caps Career with 100+ Wins

Three WRA wrestlers competed over the weekend at the National Prep Championships at Lehigh University!

Freshman, Bryadden Crum (132lbs)

Senior, Marco Cartella (144lbs)

Wrestling began Friday morning. Braydden Crum kicked the day off by battling the #14 seed from Lake Highland Prep down to the wire. Braydden had a one point lead with 20 seconds left in the third period before giving up a takedown to lose the match 10-8.

Braydden finishes his freshman season with a 20-14 record!

Hwan drops his opening round match to #7 seed but then went on to win two matches in a row. One of his matches he was able to win 3-2 over an opponent from Germantown Academy that beat him the week before at the National Prep Qualifier.

Hwan Jung finishes his junior season with a 20-12 record!

Senior, Marco Cartella entered the National Prep Championships as the #6 seed at 144lbs. Marco won his first round match before falling in overtime in the round of 16 by a score of 2-1. He would go on and rattle off two wins in a row before losing a tight match 7-5 and just missing placement on the podium.

Marco finishes his WRA career with over 100 career wins and was a four time National Prep Championship qualifier. He was the 2024-2025 WRA wrestling team captain.
