Western Reserve Academy Wrestling delivered an impressive showing at the 2026 Pennsylvania Independent Schools Wrestling Tournament (PAISWT) on Saturday, with three Pioneers earning top-four finishes and qualifying for the National Prep Championships.
Leading the way was Braydden Crum-Humburg '28, who placed 3rd at 132 pounds. After advancing to the championship semifinals, Crum-Humburg faced the No. 1 seed from Germantown Academy in a hard-fought match. Demonstrating resilience and determination, he battled back through the consolation bracket to secure a third-place finish and punch his ticket to Nationals.
At 120 pounds, Carmello Kolb '28 also put together a strong performance, finishing 4th overall. Kolb advanced to the championship quarterfinals before facing the No. 2 seed from Malvern Prep. He wrestled back into the third-place match, where he ultimately placed fourth after another competitive bout against the same opponent.
Senior Blaise Bennett '26 capped off an outstanding tournament of his own, earning 4th place at 175 pounds. Bennett battled his way into the third-place match and competed with toughness and composure, closing out his PAISWT career with a podium finish.
With all three wrestlers finishing in the top six of their respective weight classes, Crum-Humburg, Kolb, and Bennett have qualified for the National Prep Championships, which will take place February 20–21 at Lehigh University.
