Four WRA wrestlers competed at the Perrysburg Invitational Tournament. This tournament is a very tough tournament with over 30 teams! The tournament kicked off Friday evening where seniors
Marco Cartella (150) and junior
Grayson Woodcock (157) went 2-0 and made it to the quarterfinals on Saturday morning. Freshmen Braydden Crum and
Hwan Jung both won two matches and lost one on first day of the tournament.
Day two of the tournament Marco and Grayson both started the day off with wins in the quarterfinals before dropping close matches in the semifinals to opponents that went on to win the tournament. Braydden and Hwan both finished the tournament with three wins and two losses just missing the podium.
Marco and Grayson wrestled back in the consolation bracket and both came away with 3rd place finishes! With only enter four wrestlers in the tournament WRA finished in 21st place. The team continues to grow and get better every competition.
The team has a busy upcoming weekend. Marco and Grayson will be competing at the nationally renown Escape the Rock Tournament in PA, January 18-19. Four other WRA wrestlers (
Daniel Ryu, Braydden Crum,
Hwan Jung and Joo Sihjung) will also be traveling to PA to wrestle at the William Penn Charter Invitational Tournament! Go Pioneers!
