Saltsburg, PA – Western Reserve Academy battled through an uncharacteristic offensive night but leaned on defense and toughness to secure a 66-55 road victory over Kiski on January 31st. The Pioneers picked up their third win in a row, overcoming a combined 13-for-37 shooting performance from their star duo.
Anthony Thompson ('26) led all scorers with 18 points and 11 rebounds, while CJ Stinson ('25) added 17 points and 10 rebounds. The pair compensated for their shooting struggles with relentless defense, combining for 5 blocks and 6 steals. Dom Sprague ('26) chipped in 14 points and 4 steals, hounding Kiski's backcourt all night.
WRA's trademark depth took a backseat, with only their core trio reaching double figures. But the team's physicality and poise shined, converting 18 free throws to seal the win.
"We didn't have our usual rhythm, but our guys showed grit," said head coach Matt Garvey. "Defense travels, and we made enough plays down the stretch."
The Pioneers turned a scrappy road contest into a valuable win, and they now return home Sunday, February 2nd, for a 1:00 PM matchup with Phelps in the MAC .
