The Western Reserve Academy Boys Varsity Basketball team secured a thrilling 69–68 victory over Fork Union Military Academy on Saturday afternoon in front of an energized home crowd.
The Pioneers came out sharp and controlled the first half, building a commanding 44–25 lead behind strong defensive pressure and balanced offensive execution. Reserve dictated the tempo and appeared poised to carry that momentum through the second half.
Fork Union responded with a determined comeback, steadily chipping away at the deficit and setting up a dramatic finish. With less than 10 seconds remaining and the game hanging in the balance, Cam Hailey '26 drove to the basket, finished through contact, and converted the free throw to complete the three-point play and give the Pioneers a one-point lead.
Reserve held firm on the final possession to secure the 69–68 win.
Hailey led the way with 27 points and 5 assists, delivering when it mattered most. Anthony Thompson '26 added 14 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double effort, while Dom Sprague '26 contributed 8 points and 6 rebounds in a key supporting role.
The Pioneers will look to carry the momentum into their next matchup when they host TSF on February 22.
