The Western Reserve Academy Pioneers gritted out a 77-72 win over DME Wisconsin on Friday, fueled by explosive three-point shooting and clutch performances despite a frenetic defensive effort from the visitors. Anthony Thompson '26 and Torr Sorensen '25 led the charge, combining for 46 points and 20 rebounds.
Anthony Thompson delivered a monster all-around performance with 25 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 assists, burying 5 three-pointers to ignite the offense. Torr Sorensen continued his double-double dominance, adding 21 points, 10 rebounds and 4 triples. The Pioneers lit up the scoreboard from deep, hitting 13 three-pointers as a team compared to DME's 4, with CJ Stinson '25 stepping up in a pivotal role after Dom Sprague '26 exited with an ankle injury. Stinson filled the void with 14 points, 13 rebounds, and 4 assists, providing critical energy on both ends.
DME's DePaul commit Kruz McClure kept the pressure on WRA with a game-high 31 points, but the Pioneers countered by controlling the glass and sharing the ball late to weather a sloppy stretch of 19 turnovers.
"We showed toughness tonight," said Head Coach Matt Garvey. "Even with Dom's injury and some uncharacteristic mistakes, we stuck together, made timely shots and trusted each other when it mattered."
