The WRA Girls Varsity Basketball team tipped off its 2025–26 season on the road against Example Academy (IL), falling 75–47 in front of a lively Senior Night crowd.
The Pioneers struggled to find their rhythm early, facing a hot-shooting Example squad that built a first-half lead. However, WRA regrouped after the break, showing resilience and improved ball movement to outplay their opponent in stretches of the second half.
A trio of new sophomores led the charge for the Pioneers — Tara Nachbar ('28) scored 11 points, Kobi Marsden ('28) added 10 points, and Nina Bilic ('28) contributed 6 points. Veteran guard Maliyah Lofton ('26) added 7 points, while freshman Avery Childress ('29) impressed in her varsity debut with 6 points, and Emerie Davis ('27) added 5 points off the bench.
The young Pioneers showed promise and toughness in their first outing and will look to build on the performance when they face Example Academy again on Saturday, November 15, before returning home to Hudson.
