On October 2, the WRA Boys Varsity Soccer team delivered an impressive performance at home, defeating Cardinal Mooney with a final score of 5-0. The first half ended in a scoreless tie, but the Pioneers came alive in the second half, showcasing their offensive prowess with five unanswered goals.
Sagar Patel '25 opened the scoring with a penalty kick, followed by goals from Maximo Born '26, assisted by Charles Elmore '25, and Nathan Howard '28, who scored off an assist from Carter Jackson '26. Gizmo Sutiklangwiharn '26 added another before Nathan Howard capped off the scoring with a direct free kick from 25 yards out, earning him "Man of the Match" honors for his two goals. The Pioneers dominated the match statistically, with 13 shots on goal compared to Cardinal Mooney's two, and they also secured ten corner kicks to their opponent's one. WRA will look to build on this momentum as they prepare for their next game against rival University School at home on Saturday, October 5.
