The WRA track & field team delivered a strong showing at the East Palestine Invitational on April 11, highlighted by multiple top-eight finishes and a number of personal and season-best performances. The girls team scored 10 points, while the boys added 4.
On the girls' side, Makayla Riles '26 led the way with 7 points, including a third-place finish in the 100m (12.98) after running a season-best 12.82 in the prelims. She also added a point with an eighth-place finish in the 300m hurdles (52.13). Kobi Marsden '28Â contributed 3 points with a sixth-place finish in the 800m (2:37.03) and also recorded a season-best performance in the event.
For the boys, James Johnston '27 scored 3 points with top-eight finishes in both the 800m (2:09.49) and 1600m (4:48.18), posting season-best times in both events. Brendan Bennett '28Â added a point with an eighth-place finish in the 3200m (10:57.27), while also recording season-best efforts in both the 1600m (5:00.03) and 3200m.
Additional standout performances included John Jackson '26, who recorded a personal record in the 100m (12.28) and a season-best in the 200m (24.85), and Preston Riles '28, who set personal records in both the 200m (25.03) and 400m (57.37).
Overall, the meet reflected continued growth and competitiveness across the roster. WRA will return to East Palestine for its next meet on April 18.
