Western Reserve Academy's Track & Field team delivered a standout performance at the Walsh Jesuit John Hasenstab Warrior Relays on April 19, despite challenging weather conditions that tested the athletes' focus and grit.
"This was one of our strongest outings yet," said Head Coach Erik Chaput. "We had some big-time performances in tough conditions."
- Leading the way was Makayla Riles, who had a banner day both on the track and in the field:
- She tied her personal best in the long jump at 16'8".
- Teamed up with Mia Maze-Ingram and Janne Luley to earn second place in the Long Jump Relay.
- Then returned to the track and shattered her personal record in the 100m hurdles, running a 16.1 to take 2nd overall.
Elias Vail also impressed, posting personal records in both the 100m and 200m, including breaking the 23-second barrier in the 200m for the first time — a major milestone.
After an extended weather delay, James Johnston and Addie LeVan returned to the track with focus, each running a strong 1600m. James's performance was especially notable, as he logged his second-fastest time ever in a WRA uniform, besting last year's time by 10 seconds. Both James and Rian Arora also posted PR splits in their legs of the 4x800m relay, rounding out a powerful team effort.
