The Western Reserve Academy Boys Varsity Basketball team battled until the final buzzer but fell just short in a 67–64 overtime loss to Fort Erie on Thursday in Los Angeles, California.
The Pioneers came out strong, playing with poise and energy on both ends of the floor. Reserve controlled much of the first half, building a 33–29 lead behind strong offensive execution and tough rebounding.
Fort Erie responded in the second half, tightening the game and forcing overtime in what became a back-and-forth battle between two evenly matched teams. Despite several key plays down the stretch, the Pioneers were unable to pull away, as Fort Erie edged Reserve in the extra period.
Anthony Thompson '26 led the way with a dominant performance, recording 27 points and 10 rebounds. Cam Hailey '26 added 19 points and 7 rebounds, providing a strong interior presence and helping keep the Pioneers in contention throughout the contest.
The Pioneers will look to bounce back as they continue their California trip with a matchup against Guangming Academy on February 14.
