Second-Half Surge Fuels WRA Comeback Win Over Sunrise

Western Reserve Academy boys varsity basketball delivered a statement win on Friday night, rallying from a 17-point first-half deficit to defeat Sunrise Christian 91–73 at home.

The Pioneers faced an early challenge against a talented Sunrise squad, trailing 37–34 at halftime after digging themselves out of a deep first-half hole. Rather than pressing, Reserve responded with poise and intensity after the break, turning up the defensive pressure and finding a rhythm offensively.

WRA exploded in the second half, using pace, ball movement, and strong finishes at the rim to seize control of the game. The Pioneers outscored Sunrise decisively after halftime, flipping the momentum and pulling away down the stretch to secure the win.

Anthony Thompson '26 led the charge with 28 points, setting the tone offensively. Dom Sprague '26 provided a major boost with 20 points, while Cam Hailey '26 added 14 points to keep pressure on the Sunrise defense. Breylon Webb '26 chipped in 11 points as Reserve's balanced attack proved too much to overcome.

The comeback victory highlighted the Pioneers' resilience and depth as they closed out a strong performance in front of the home crowd. WRA returned to action the following night, hosting Phelps on January 31.
