The Western Reserve Academy wrestling team turned in a strong showing on Wednesday night, earning a 42–30 road victory over The Kiski School.
The Pioneers won eight of the 14 contested weight classes, highlighted by a series of decisive pins and solid performances throughout the lineup. Several wrestlers were competing in their first matches of the season, adding to the significance of the team's effort.
WRA jumped out to an early advantage as Vienna Leeman '27 opened the night with a pin at 113 pounds, followed by Terrence Heuschkel '28, who also earned a pin at 120 pounds. Both wrestlers recorded their first career victories, setting the tone for the dual. Momentum continued with pins from Carmello Kolb '28 (126 lbs) and Daniel Ryu '27 (132 lbs).
Additional points came from Mekhi Hoyte '28 (144 lbs), Hwan Jung '26 (150 lbs), and Blaise Bennett '26 (175 lbs), each earning wins by forfeit, while Wenbin Tang '28 delivered another pin for the Pioneers at 157 pounds. Though Luke Kolencik '28 (138 lbs) and Sihyung Joo '28 (165 lbs) came up short, their efforts rounded out a competitive and well-fought night for the team.
The Pioneers now turn their attention to a busy weekend, traveling to Alliance High School for the Top Gun Invitational on January 16–17.
