The Western Reserve Academy wrestling team competed in the Perrysburg Invitational Tournament over this past weekend, welcoming strong competition and turning in several gritty individual performances.
Sophomore Carmello Kolb '28 led the way for the Pioneers with a third-place finish in the 120-pound weight class. Kolb opened the tournament with back-to-back victories to advance to the semifinals before falling in a hard-fought 9–3 match against the eventual tournament champion. His podium finish capped a strong day and improved his season record to 10–2.
Also competing well was Braydden Crum-Humburg '28, who placed sixth at 132 pounds. Crum battled through a challenging bracket, earning multiple tough wins that showcased his resilience and competitiveness. His performance on the day moved his season record to 11–4.
Additional contributions came from Hwan Jung '26, who finished the tournament with a 2–2 record, and Blaise Bennett '26, who wrapped up the day at 1–2. Both wrestlers gained valuable mat time against quality opponents as the season continues.
The Pioneers return to action on Wednesday, January 14, when they travel to face The Kiski School at 5:30 PM.
