The WRA Girls Varsity Tennis team extended its perfect season with a dominant 7–0 sweep of Mercersburg Academy on Saturday at the Smoyer Tennis Center in Pennsylvania. Playing in the college dual match format, the Pioneers controlled both doubles and singles from start to finish to remain unbeaten in 2025.
The match began with doubles, where Reserve stormed to three decisive wins. Captains Denisse Jimenez Robles '26 and Sia Mahesh '27 set the tone at #1 doubles with an 8–1 win. At #2, Lela Yajnik '27 and Sasha Hillard '29 continued their unbeaten streak with another 8–1 victory, clinching the doubles point. Rithi Hegde '29 and Riya Patel '26 completed the sweep with an 8–1 decision at #3 doubles.
In singles, shortened to one-set matches due to weather, the Pioneers were equally commanding. Jimenez Robles, Hegde, and Mahesh all posted identical 6–0 wins at the top three spots, with Mahesh's result delivering the clinching fourth point. Yajnik added a 6–2 win at #4 singles, while Patel and Hillard shut down their opponents with clean 6–0 and 4–0 wins, respectively.
The depth of the squad also shined in exhibition play, as Nadia Kischke '26, Lauren Keller '27, Sophia Gruhl '27, and Annie Markarian '27 competed in additional doubles and singles matches, with Keller and Gruhl earning singles victories and both exhibition doubles teams securing wins.
The convincing performance marked a 7–0 team victory and underscored WRA's balance and depth across the lineup.
The Pioneers return to the road on Monday, September 29, to face Revere (14–3) at 4:00 p.m.
