The Western Reserve Academy boys varsity basketball team opened play at the Mercer Invitational Tournament with an impressive 80–64 victory over Dexter Suffield on Thursday night.
Reserve set the tone early, using disciplined defense and unselfish offense to build a commanding 42–22 halftime lead. The Pioneers controlled the pace from the opening tip, forcing turnovers and converting in transition to create separation before the break.
Anthony Thompson '26 led the way with 20 points and six rebounds, providing a steady presence on both ends of the floor. Cam Hailey '26 orchestrated the offense effectively, finishing with 13 points and eight assists, while Luka Ioannisci '27 added 11 points to round out a balanced scoring effort.
Dexter Suffield pushed back in the second half, but WRA maintained composure and continued to execute, closing out the game with confidence to advance in the tournament.
