WRA Secures Gritty Home Win Over Spire Prep

Western Reserve Academy earned a hard-fought 74–67 victory over Spire Prep on Saturday, using a strong second-half surge to overcome a three-point halftime deficit and defend their home court.

After trailing 37–34 at the break, the Pioneers regrouped and elevated their play on both ends of the floor. Increased defensive pressure and improved ball movement fueled a momentum swing that carried WRA through the final two quarters.

Anthony Thompson '26 led the charge with a dominant performance, posting 25 points and 11 rebounds while controlling the interior throughout the game. Cam Hailey '26 was outstanding as well, contributing 16 points and an impressive 9 assists as he orchestrated the offense with poise. Asher Suardini '27 added a valuable 9 points, giving the Pioneers another strong scoring option.

The win marks another step forward for WRA as they continue to build rhythm heading into the heart of their December schedule.

Next up, the Pioneers travel to the Hill School for the Mercer Invitational, where they will face Dexter Suffield on December 18.
