Pioneers Celebrate Senior Night with Thrilling 1–0 Win Over Magnificat

The WRA Field Hockey team delivered its most complete performance of the season on Thursday, October 9, earning a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Magnificat in front of a spirited home crowd on Senior Night.

The Pioneers struck in the second quarter, when Avery Harris '27 scored the decisive goal off a perfect assist from Lydia Stropki '26. From there, WRA's defense took over, putting together a dominant and disciplined effort to preserve the shutout.

Stropki and Caitlin Cronkey '28 were relentless all game, showing incredible hustle and leadership on both ends of the field. The defensive unit of Claire Krapf '26, Sarah Johnson '29, Kelsey Schmid '28, Amaya Gomez '28, and Avery Harris '27 faced 12 penalty corners and cleared them all, holding firm under pressure. In goal, Johnson was outstanding once again, recording 13 saves to earn the clean sheet.

It was a fitting performance for Senior Night—one that reflected the team's growth, toughness, and unity. The Pioneers will look to keep their momentum going when they host Shady Side Academy on Saturday, October 18, at 1:00 p.m.
