The WRA Girls Varsity Tennis team moved to 4-0 on the season with a 4-1 victory over Laurel
on Wednesday at the WRA tennis courts.

Mikaela (Mika) Chriita '26 set the tone for the afternoon with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Ella Witalec at
#2 Singles. Denisse Jimenez-Robles '26 quickly followed her at #3 Singles with a 6-0, 6-0
victory over Lilly Rossenfield. The Pioneers #1 Doubles tandem of Lela Yajnik '27 and Sia
Mahesh '27 posted a strong 6-0, 6-0 win over Tatum Zoller and Kenzie Samuel to clinch the
match for WRA. Laurel's #1 Singles player Rida Tahir posted her team's first point, defeating
WRA's Riya Hegde '25 in a good match 6-1, 6-4. Hegde battled back in the second set and was
within striking distance of the Laurel star, but fell a little short. The Pioneer's #2 Doubles team
of Sehar Mahesh '25 and Riya Patel '26 closed out the match with a solid 6-0, 6-3 win over Yara
Ibrahim and Jazmine Ross.

The Girls Varsity Tennis team now sees a short pause in the schedule before playing 4 big
matches starting the day after Labor Day. Looming on the horizon are key matchups with
Hoban, CVCA, Aurora and Solon. The first match of the sequence is Tuesday, September 3rd
at home against Hoban. Match time is approximately 4:30pm.
