Pioneers Suffer First Home Loss to Athletes in Action

Hudson, OH – Western Reserve Academy's boys varsity basketball team faced their first home defeat of the season, falling 88-71 to Athletes in Action (AIA) on Monday, December 9th. The Pioneers struggled to recover from an early deficit as AIA's relentless effort on the glass proved too much to overcome.

Anthony Thompson ('26), a key player for WRA, was limited to a season-low 6 points after picking up three early fouls in the first half. Despite this, the Pioneers showed resilience, cutting the deficit to single digits in the second half. However, AIA's dominance on the boards—outrebounding WRA 44-24—ultimately sealed the Pioneers' fate.

Trey Cady ('25) and Curtis Stinson ('25) led WRA's offense, each scoring 20 points. Donovan Carney ('26) added 13 points in a valiant effort.

After a grueling stretch of three games in as many days, the Pioneers will regroup and prepare for back-to-back home games this weekend. They'll face PDI Prep on Saturday, December 14th, followed by Darrow School on Sunday, December 15th.
