The WRA Varsity Golf team earned a 2-1 victory over Kiski on Saturday, September 26, in an 18-hole fourball matchplay contest at home.
Luke Kolencik and Richard Yuan set the tone for WRA, cruising to an impressive 8-and-6 victory over their opponents. Johnny Swegan and Kalen Mulligan also delivered a strong finish. After standing all square through nine holes, the duo poured it on over the back nine to secure a 3-and-2 win.
WRA's top duo of Sophia Goheen and Cameron Aresco faced Kiski's best golfer and found themselves down by as many as four holes after a slow start. The pair battled back in impressive fashion, winning three of the final four holes before halving the 18th. Their late rally brought the match to just one hole, though Kiski ultimately held on for the win.
With two victories and a hard-fought loss, WRA came away with a 2-1 team result and plenty of momentum heading into the final match of the season.
WRA will close out its season on Monday, September 28, when the team travels to Boulder Creek to take on Pymatuning Valley.
