The Girls Varsity tennis team ran its shutout streak and winning streak to 5 with a nice 5-0 win over Revere on Tuesday at the WRA Tennis Center. Revere brought a game group of players and pushed some of the Pioneers before the WRA girls pulled away with the win. The Pios now have won 41 of their last 44 matches dating back to 2023.

Dorothy Mendelson '30 got things rolling for WRA with a nice 6-0, 6-2 win at #3 Singles over Revere's Julianne Choi. Choi started to make a run in the second set before Mendelson finished strong to notch the win. The Pios Catie Cunningham '29 continued her strong season with a 6-0, 6-0 win at #2 Singles over the Minutemen's Namaratha Kotagiri. Cunningham played a strong match to secure the second team point. The match clinching point came at #2 Doubles, where Sia Mahesh '27 and Bella Arakaki '28 played a very solid match, registering at 6-0, 6-1 win over Revere's Camille Casellas and Gabby Takla. WRA's Rithi Hegde '29, playing the #1 Singles spot, battled a very determined opponent in Sadhvi Kurra, and prevailed 6-2, 6-2, to secure the 4th team point. The final match on court was over 90 minutes long, where Reserve's #1 Doubles duo of Lela Yajnik '27 and Sasha Hillard '29 started strong but needed to overcome a 2-5 deficit in the second set to pull out a 6-0, 7-6(6) win over Revere's Ilyana Leenheer and Bridget Steiner. The Pioneers' Bella Arakaki '28 came back after her doubles win to play an exhibition singles match against Revere's Isabelle Owens, taking a 6-0, 6-0 victory.

The Pioneer Girls Tennis Varsity will continue play on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, when they travel to Walsh Jesuit in a key Northeast Ohio High School Tennis League contest. Match time is 4:30pm.
