The WRA boys varsity volleyball team competed in a competitive field at the Springfield Spike Tournament on April 18, finishing 4th out of six teams.
WRA opened the day with a strong performance, defeating East Tech in straight sets, 25–22 and 25–21. The team then faced a tough Perrysburg squad, falling 12–25 and 20–25. In their final match against host Springfield, WRA battled through three sets but came up short, 19–25, 25–16, 17–25.
Ryo Nakano '27 made a significant impact defensively from the middle back position, while Evan Sun '26 led the team in serve receive, providing consistency in the back row. Luke Kolencik '28 directed the offense, leading the team in assists, and captain Finn Frato-Sweeney '26 contributed key blocks and kills throughout the tournament.
WRA will look to build on the experience as they return to action on Tuesday, April 21, on the road against St. Vincent-St. Mary.
