The WRA Girls Varsity Volleyball team turned in a dominant performance on Saturday at the Maple Heights Invitational, sweeping all three of their opponents and claiming the tournament championship without dropping a single set.
The Pioneers opened the day with a decisive win over Cleveland Central Catholic (25–12, 25–7), then followed with another sweep against Garfield Heights (25–17, 25–14). In the championship match, WRA faced familiar rival Hawken, a team that had beaten the Pioneers earlier in the season. This time, WRA left no doubt, rolling to a commanding 25–12, 25–14 victory to secure first place.
Senior Nicole Neal '26 earned the team's Spirit Ball award after a standout day, tallying 30 kills, 6 aces, and 7 blocks across the tournament. Sophomore setter Riley Brainerd '28 orchestrated the offense with a steady hand, while Cameron Van Dyke '29 added 12 kills of her own. Sophomore Livia Farian '28 delivered key service runs in the championship match, and Sass Huff '26 anchored the back row with fantastic serve-receive play and dependable defense.
The Pioneers' perfect 6–0 set record reflected their focus and determination, especially in avenging the early-season loss to Hawken. With the championship in hand, WRA looks to carry that momentum into Monday's home matchup against Cuyahoga Falls.
