On April 23, Varsity Boys Volleyball team hosted the Hudson Explorers in a competitive four-set match, ultimately falling 1 – 3.
The Pioneers kept the pressure on throughout the match, dropping the first set 20 – 25 before storming back with a 26 – 24 win in the second. The third set was another nail-biter, with WRA narrowly edged out 24 – 26. Hudson pulled ahead in the fourth to seal the match, 15 – 25.
Despite the final result, the Pioneers saw strong performances across the board. Adrian Alfirevic anchored the team with 3 digs, 3 blocks and a standout serving performance. Bill Wu was a force at the net, contributing 6 blocks and making his presence known throughout the match. On defense, Finn Frato-Sweeney impressed with 11 digs, while Scout Hollingsworth led the offense with 12 kills and added 9 digs of his own.
WRA looks to bounce back in their next matchup at home against St. Vincent–St. Mary (SVSM) on Wednesday, April 30.
