The WRA Girls Varsity Basketball team kicked off their Washington, D.C. trip in commanding fashion, defeating the four-time defending VISAA Division II State Champions, Virginia Academy, 62-38 in the She Got Game Classic.
Junior Brooklyn Hall set the tone early, scoring seven of her 19 points during an 11-4 run in the opening minutes, helping WRA establish a 17-10 lead by the end of the first quarter. A strong defensive effort and relentless offensive execution allowed WRA to double their advantage, heading into halftime up 31-17.
Virginia Academy fought back in the third quarter, narrowing the gap to nine points, but WRA quickly regained control. A pivotal steal and layup by William & Mary commit Jordyn Steindl, followed by another steal from Middlebury commit Islay Moore leading to an assist for Hall, restored WRA's double-digit lead. The team continued to shine defensively, turning steals into easy transition baskets. Hall, Paris Matheos, and Harvard commit Maya Nahar led the charge, pushing WRA to a commanding 49-28 lead entering the fourth quarter.
In the final frame, WRA sealed the deal, cruising to a 62-38 victory.
