Western Reserve Academy's Indoor Track team showcased their hard work and determination at the NEOITC Series Black Division #1, hosted at SPIRE Academy, delivering a stellar performance in their first league meet of 2025. The night was packed with personal records (PRs), podium finishes, and significant achievements that reflect the team's dedication to training at Kent and in the school's fieldhouse.
Here's a closer look at the standout performances:
- Elias blazed through the 200m, clocking a PR of 23.15, securing 2nd place overall and earning a spot at 9th in Northeast Ohio rankings.
- Tavin achieved dual PRs: 23.48 in the 200m (5th overall) and 7.37 in the 60m.
- Rian set a PR in the 1600m with a time of 5:15.
- Addie had an exceptional meet, winning the 1600m with a PR of 5:28 and claiming 2nd place in the 800m with another PR of 2:31. These times rank her 4th in Northeast Ohio for the 1600m and 8th for the 800m.
- Mika sprinted to two PRs: 8.21 in the 60m (2nd overall) and 27.85 in the 200m (4th overall).
- Caroline recorded a PR in the 800m with a time of 2:49.
- Nico set a PR in the 800m, finishing in 2:11.
- John and Jayden ran PRs in the 200m, clocking 25.5 and 25.86, respectively.
- Yuna achieved a season-best time of 2:51 in the 800m.
The evening also saw two gold medal performances:
- Makayla dominated the 60m hurdles, taking home 1st place.
- Janne soared to victory in the long jump.
In the relay events, the girls' 4x200 team—featuring Katherine, Mika, Makayla, and Janne—secured a silver medal with an impressive time of 1:51.9.
With contributions from across the team, the girls' squad amassed 65 points, earning a 3rd-place finish overall—a testament to their talent and teamwork.
