Nick Thompson serves as Head Boys Soccer Coach, bringing an exceptional blend of collegiate coaching experience, professional playing background, and championship pedigree to the program.
A Hudson, Ohio native, Thompson earned his B.A. in Sport Management from Messiah University, where he was part of one of the most successful eras in NCAA Division III history. As a player at Messiah, he was a member of three NCAA Division III National Championship teams (2008, 2009, 2010) and a 2007 Final Four squad. He was named a 2010 NSCAA All-American, 2010 Commonwealth Conference Player of the Year, and earned multiple First-Team All-Conference and All-Region honors during his collegiate career. Prior to college, Thompson was recognized as a 2006 NSCAA All-Region selection and NCSAA All-American at Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy.
Following his decorated collegiate career, Thompson competed professionally with the Carolina RailHawks of the NASL and the Pittsburgh Riverhounds of the USL, gaining valuable experience at the professional level.
Thompson’s coaching journey spans every level of the collegiate game. He has served as an assistant coach at NCAA Division I programs including the University of New Hampshire, NC State University, and the United States Naval Academy. At the Division III level, he coached at Williams College and Gordon College, and he also served as Head Men’s Soccer Coach at Eastern Nazarene College. Additionally, he coached on the women’s side at California Baptist University. Most recently, Thompson has been the Head Men’s Soccer Coach at Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy since 2021, leading and developing a competitive high school program.
Beyond the school setting, Thompson currently serves as Director of Coaching for Ambassadors SC and Hudson United, where he works closely with players and coaches to strengthen the developmental pathway for youth athletes in the region.
Coach Thompson’s philosophy centers on building disciplined, competitive teams rooted in daily habits, technical excellence, and strong character. With experience as a national champion, professional player, and coach at multiple collegiate levels, he is committed to developing student-athletes who compete with confidence, integrity, and purpose both on and off the field.
