Coach Katie Bonomo is a passionate and accomplished leader in Western Reserve Academy’s swimming program, where she has coached for 12 years. A lifelong swimmer, Coach Bonomo competed for 17 years, including a stellar collegiate career at DePauw University, where she earned recognition as a five-time All-American swimmer. Specializing in the backstroke and individual medley, she exemplifies the dedication and excellence she encourages in her athletes.

Coach Bonomo’s commitment to WRA extends beyond the pool. She has also served as a volleyball coach for an impressive 19 years, helping student-athletes excel on the court. Her dual-sport expertise underscores her ability to foster athletic growth in diverse arenas.

Beyond coaching, Bonomo is a mathematics teacher and holds numerous leadership roles on campus, including serving as WRA's ISACS (Independent School Association of the Central States) coordinator and a member of the ISACS Board of Trustees. She also provides mentorship as an advisor and through dorm duty.

Coach Bonomo lives off campus with her husband, Michael, and their two children, Ryan and Molly. Together, they enjoy an active lifestyle filled with pickleball, volleyball, hiking in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park and creative pursuits like Iron Chef-style cooking competitions.

Bonomo’s coaching philosophy is simple yet profound: work hard and have fun. She emphasizes fostering a lifelong commitment to health, wellness and movement, equipping her athletes with skills and habits that extend far beyond the pool or court.
