With her strong passion for athletics and education, Coach Spano is a welcomed addition to the girls tennis coaching staff. As a college basketball player at Smith College, she earned multiple accolades, including Rookie of the Year, Spirit Award and MVP, and served as co-captain in her junior and senior years. In high school, she was ranked in Northeast Ohio for tennis.

Her coaching experience includes roles in high school basketball and softball in Charleston, SC, and at WRA, where she has also coached JV and rec tennis. On campus, Coach Spano is a dedicated biology and ocean topics teacher, advisor and part of the Ellsworth 3rd duty crew. She also coaches C-Squad tennis, advises the Greenhouse Club and is a member of the Compass Committee.

With a degree in biology from Smith College and a master’s in Biology from Northeastern University, Coach Spano combines her love of the ocean and the outdoors with her passion for coaching. Her philosophy focuses on creating a fun and inclusive environment for rec tennis players, emphasizing skill development and positive reinforcement to build confidence and foster a lifelong love of the sport. Coach Spano lives on campus with her husband John, along with their dogs Remi and Tucker. They have two children, both WRA graduates, Josie ('22) and AJ ('24).
