As the creator of the girls cross country program at Western Reserve Academy in 1989, Coach Jeff Warner has coached multiple sports and been instrumental as a mentor to countless student-athletes. Coach Warner ran cross country and track in high school and was a two-time qualifier to the Ohio State Championship meet in the half-mile, mile and mile relay. His running prowess continued in college at Allegheny College.Â
Prior to beginning at WRA, Coach Warner served as the head coach of coed cross country at The Winchendon School. During his Reserve tenure, many runners have gone on to compete in college, including Duke, Princeton, Haverford, Bowdoin and the U.S. Naval Academy.
Coach Warner can be found teaching English and advising students while not on the track or the course, and grew up in Gates Mills, OH, where his parents taught at Hawken School, Warner's alma mater. With three daughters who all ran cross country or track (and Warner coaching all of them!) for Reserve, the Warner family has been supporting WRA athletics for many years. He and his wife live on campus.Â
"I believe that sports offer every student an opportunity for personal growth, that we can all learn something about ourselves and the value of teamwork through the crucible of practice and competition. The girls cross country team has been home to hundreds of runners, and it is important to me that I help each find a level of challenge and success that is appropriate to them."
