Assistant Coach - Track & Field

Coach Marmerstein is a dedicated coach, teacher and mentor at WRA, bringing her passion for athletics and academics to every aspect of campus life. As a coach for Cross Country and Track, she draws on her own experiences as a sprinter at Ames High School and as a standout Ultimate Frisbee player at the University of Virginia, where she helped her team qualify for the National Championships in 2011. She has continued her love for Ultimate Frisbee at both the club and local levels.

Ms. Marmerstein began her coaching career at St. Anne's Belfield School in Charlottesville, VA, in 2016, where she also led a diverse after-school fitness program that included weightlifting, walking and yoga. At WRA, she brings that same commitment to student wellness and development, helping athletes build strong physical and mental foundations as lifelong athletes.

In addition to coaching, Marmerstein is an English teacher, advisor and resident of Ellsworth 2 dorm. A native of Ames, IA, she earned her B.A. in English with a concentration in Modern Studies and a minor in Religious Studies from the University of Virginia in 2011. She received a Master’s in English from Middlebury College in 2024.

Coach Marmerstein lives on campus with her husband, Joe, a proud WRA alumnus from the class of 2011. Together, they enjoy hiking and playing Ultimate Frisbee. Ms. Marmerstein's coaching philosophy centers on fostering a love for movement and competition, all while emphasizing the value of teamwork and community. She calls all of it “a joyful pursuit.”
