Asya Reynolds serves as Head Coach of Track & Field at Western Reserve Academy, bringing elite NCAA Division I experience, championship pedigree, and a deep commitment to student-athlete development.

Coach Reynolds began her standout athletic career at Shaker Heights High School, where she was a state champion in the 4×400 relay as a freshman and an indoor state champion in the long jump as a sophomore. She later competed at Brush High School, earning Track MVP honors, serving as team captain, and breaking school records in the 100-meter hurdles, long jump, and high jump—records she still holds in the long jump and high jump. A two-time state champion and three-time High School All-American, she also excelled in volleyball, earning All-League honors, serving as team captain, and being named team MVP her senior year.

Reynolds continued her track & field career at Michigan State University, competing at the NCAA Division I level in the heptathlon and pentathlon, as well as in hurdles, relays, jumps, and sprints. At MSU, she became a Big Ten Heptathlon Champion, earned First-Team All-Big Ten honors, and made history as the first Spartan woman to earn All-America recognition in the heptathlon, finishing as a Second-Team All-American at the NCAA Championships. She was also named the George Alderton Female Co-Athlete of the Year for her leadership and athletic excellence, and she set school records in both the pentathlon and heptathlon.

After earning her undergraduate degree from Michigan State in Human Development and Family Studies, she continued competing as a graduate student at the University of Georgia. There, she earned First-Team All-America honors at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships and recorded one of the top heptathlon scores in program history, ranking No. 6 all-time at Georgia.

Coach Reynolds joined Western Reserve Academy in Spring 2025 as an assistant jumps coach and has also served on the volleyball coaching staff as an assistant JV coach. During the indoor season, she works closely with a focused group of athletes, providing individualized training and technical development.

Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, Coach Reynolds is passionate about mentorship and service. She volunteers distributing food to those in need and is currently training to become a Certified Behavioral Technician, working with autistic children. Her interests include music, cooking, the arts, nature, and sports.

Her coaching philosophy centers on developing confident mindsets and disciplined athletes through accountability, consistency, and trust. She believes in balancing high standards with individualized support, focusing on long-term physical and mental growth. Coach Reynolds is committed to helping student-athletes believe in themselves and the process—so they leave the program stronger, more resilient, and prepared for success beyond the track.
