Diccon Ong '81

  • Title
Head C Squad Coach - Boys Soccer

Coach Diccon Ong ‘81 has been coaching at WRA since 1998, initially stepping in as an assistant wrestling coach before transitioning to riflery, a role he has embraced with passion and commitment.

With a notable career in riflery, Coach Ong's journey began somewhat serendipitously when he was recruited by the revered Russ Hansen to assist with the rifle team. After Hansen's sabbatical, Coach Ong took over as Head Coach and has since led the program for over two decades. His approach in riflery focuses on developing self-coaching skills, as the sport demands acute self-awareness and mental precision. In soccer, Coach Ong emphasizes fitness, fundamental skills, and ensuring a positive, enjoyable experience for his players.

In addition to his coaching roles, Coach Ong teaches in the Social Sciences Department at WRA, covering economics, U.S. history, and government, and serves as a Faculty Advisor to the Student Investment Committee. His varied background also includes a career in the performing arts and various roles in education and theater. Coach Ong and his family, including his wife and three sons (all graduates of WRA), have been an integral part of the WRA community for many years.
