The WRA Girls Varsity Tennis team traveled to Rocky River on Wednesday, September 3, for a showdown with #6-ranked Magnificat in a battle of two of Ohio's top programs. After nearly three hours of high-level competition, the Pioneers emerged with a hard-fought 3–2 victory to improve to 3–0 on the season.
Magnificat struck first at #3 singles, but Reserve quickly responded when the #2 doubles team of Riya Patel '26 and Carina Tang '28 earned a decisive 6–1, 6–2 win. The Pioneers then pulled ahead 2–1 after #1 doubles duo Lela Yajnik '27 and Sasha Hillard '29 secured a 6–3, 6–3 victory. The Blue Streaks tied the match at 2–2 with a win at #2 singles, setting the stage for a dramatic finish.
The deciding point came down to #1 singles, where Denisse Jimenez Robles '26 battled against Magnificat's undefeated Margaret Williams. After dropping the first set 6–2, Jimenez Robles fought back with grit and composure, winning the next two sets 6–4, 6–3 to clinch the match for WRA.
