The WRA Girls Varsity Tennis team remained undefeated, improving to 11–0 on the season with a gritty 5–0 road victory over Aurora. The Pioneers have now won 12 straight matches dating back to last season and 29 of their last 31 overall since 2023.
The day began with a dominant performance from Lela Yajnik '27, who posted a commanding 6–0, 6–0 win at #3 singles. Soon after, the #1 doubles pairing of Sasha Hillard '29 and Carina Tang '28 secured WRA's second point with a decisive 6–2, 6–2 victory.
The clinching point came courtesy of Sia Mahesh '27 at #2 singles, grinding out a 6–3, 6–3 win over Aurora's Sophie Cifani in a back-and-forth contest.
At #1 singles, Denisse Jimenez Robles '26 outlasted Aurora's top player, Kamy Milano, in one of the tightest matches of the day, coming through with clutch shot-making for a 7–6(5), 6–4 triumph. The sweep was sealed by the veteran #2 doubles team of Nadia Kischke '26 and Lauren Keller '27, who showed poise under pressure to earn a hard-fought 6–4, 7–6(4) victory.
In exhibition play, Aurora's top pair edged Annie Markarian '27 and Anna Barger '28, 8–5, while Sophia Gruhl '27 and Emily Zhang '27 gave WRA a boost with an 8–3 win.
The Pioneers return to action on Thursday, September 18, when they host Wooster.
