The WRA Girls Varsity Tennis traveled to Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy on Wednesday and after almost 2 ½ hours, came away with a gritty, 4-1 win over the #8 State Ranked CVCA Royals. With the win, the Pioneers are now 6-0 on the season.

Denisse Jimenez-Robles '26 put up the first point with a 6-2, 6-2 win over CVCA's Kyla Moore at #3 Singles. The Royals tied it up 1-1 when Joy Saffles and Lily Siemen posted a 6-3, 6-0 win at #2 Doubles over WRA's Sehar Mahesh '25 and Lauren Keller '27. Riya Hegde put the Pioneers on top 2-1 with a 6-1, 6-4 victory at #1 Singles over CVCA's Amy Grace Beebe. The score remained 2-1 for nearly an hour with 2 courts still playing. The clinching point came from WRA's Mikaela Chirita '26 at #2 Singles who prevailed 6-4, 7-6 (5) over Delainie Moore of CVCA. Shortly after, the Pioneers #1 Doubles team of Lela Yajnik '27 and Sia Mahesh '27 came from behind to win 6-7 (6), 6-3, 10-2 over the Royals Grace Saffles and Skylar Wood to make the final team score 4-1.

The Girls Varsity Tennis team's next match is Thursday, September 5 at home against Aurora. Match time is approximately 4:30pm.
