The WRA Girls Varsity Tennis continued its strong start with a 5-0 victory over Archbishop Hoban High School on Tuesday at the WRA courts. With the win, the Pioneers ran their record to 5-0 on the season and 2-0 in Division A of the Northeast Ohio High School League.

MIkaela Chirita '26 scored the first point for WRA with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Hoban's Molly Maltempi at #2 Singles. Denisse Jimenez-Robles '26 soon followed with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Lexi Woodburn of Hoban at #3 Singles. The WRA team of Lela Yajnik '27 and Lauren Keller '27 secured the clinching point at #2 Doubles with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Hoban's Julia Eckart and Sofia Macavei. The next point was earned by the #1 Doubles team of Sia Mahesh '27 and Sehar Mahesh '25, who defeated Kamryn Magaw and Maura Sneath of Hoban, 6-1, 6-3. The final point of the match came from the Pioneers #1 Singles player Riya Hegde '25, who prevailed over Hoban's Karlie Nicolae in a nice match, 6-4, 7-5.

WRA's Carina Tang '28 also posted a 6-1, 6-0 win in Varsity exhibition singles for the Pioneers over Hoban's Kaitlyn Llewellyn.

The Girls Varsity Tennis team travels to CVCA on Wednesday, September 4, for a big match against the Royals, in a battle of two of the top teams in the region. Match time is approximately 4:30pm.
