The WRA Girls Varsity Tennis took to the road on Monday against the state ranked #5 Orange Lions and fell just a little short, falling 3-2 in a nearly 2 1/2 hour marathon. The Pioneers now stand 14-2 on the season. WRA's only losses have come at the hands of top-10 ranked teams (#3 Hathaway Brown and #5 Orange) - both by close 3-2 scores, while winning 3 other matches against top-10 ranked opponents (#4 Hawken, #7 Magnificat and #8 Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy).

WRA's Sehar Mahesh '25 made her 2024 season singles debut and scored the first point for WRA with a 6-0, 6-0 win at #3 Singles over the Lions Reese Balding. Orange tied it up at a point each at #1 Singles when Genevieve Hayden defeated the Pioneers' Riya Hegde '25, 6-1, 6-0. The Lions took a 2-1 lead when their #2 Doubles team of Sana Adi and Raina Patel defeated WRA's Riya Patel '26 and Sia Mahesh '27, 6-2, 6-1. The Pioneers tied it up at 2-2 at #1 Doubles when Denisse Jimenez-Robles '27 and Lela Yajnik '26 notched a 6-4, 6-2 win over the Lions Lily Guiler and Adele Tokmazesky. Fighting hard at #2 Singles, WRA's Mikaela Chirita '27 gave it her all and just fell a little short against Orange's Ivy Berlin, 6-3, 6-3.

The Girls Varsity Tennis team's next match is Thursday, October 3 at Cathedral Prep in Erie, PA. Match time is 3:30pm.
