The WRA Girls Varsity Tennis 12 match unbeaten streak ended after a 3 hour spirited battle against #3 ranked Hathaway Brown on Thursday at the WRA courts. The 3-2 loss dropped the Pioneers record to 12-1 and 3-1 in the very tough NE Ohio High School Division A league.

Riya Hegde '25 started the night for WRA with inspired play and a 6-2, 6-1 win over HB's Ava Kamensky. The Blazers' Maddie Everest and Anna Mills evened things up with a 6-2, 6-2 win over the Pioneers' Sia Mahesh '27 and Lela Yajnik '27. The match stayed tied 1-1 for 90 minutes as the #2 Doubles, #2 Singles and #3 Singles continued into third sets. WRA's Denisse Jimenez-Robles scored the second point for WRA with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 win over HB's Sarah Cimoroni. The Blazers evened it up at 2-2 when their #2 Doubles team of Sara Cody and Eliza Tagen took a close 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 win over WRA's Riya Patel '26 and Sehar Mahesh '25. HB's 3rd point came in a 3 hour battle at #2 Singles when Elizabeth Chen edged Mikaela Chirita '26 6-4, 3-6, 7-5.

The Pioneers will look to bounce back on Friday, September 20, when they travel to Avon.
